Bourne End Week used to be to inland sailing what Cowes Week is the Maritime World. The Raters once the proud owners of the rich and famous are now raced by enthusiasts keeping the old traditions alive. At the turn of the 1800-1900s people didn't jet across the world, they came to the Thames to race these boats. Many of these boats date from this period and are maintained by their crew.
Although less renowned today, A-Raters still compete for the historic Queen's Cup on Thames.
