The Long Distance Race

Six of Nine

Not the most exciting of races - an endurance race in very little wind. We managed 4 laps up past the sewage outlet approx 3/4 mile from the club, so each round trip was about 1.5 miles and in little to no wind this was a challenge. Each leg took approx 30 minutes, but we found each one took longer and longer. As you can see from the picture the tell tails limped downwards.

Little Wind to Start

We got out early and saw how light the wind was

Less Wind Later on

We started third, but within a few minutes the pack had separated in two. We were at the back again with Keira's Lightning and Rays Laser. For much of the first leg we stayed in touch but soon they moved away from us. and we battled along in last place being over taken by the leaders. We push on and completed 4 laps in four hours, whilst the faster boats managed to complete the 9 miles in just under the four hours.  It was hard work . Long races definitely need more wind.

More adventures continue as we go on a Wednesday picnic
