Will Champagne Float or leak?
We didn't really doubt that she would float, but we also wanted to see if there were any laeks.
For her first launch back into the River Thames we were lucky enough to have Adria Merton with us. She commissioned and over sought the building of Champagne in 1993. She was delighted to be at Champagnes water test and helped get the boat into the water. It was great to meet her and learn all about the history of the boat and her sailing experiences.
Adria was as surprised as we were to find out the sails were the original sails that she had bought back in 1994, with her name written on the base of the sails in her handwriting. With help we put us the jib and worked out what ropes to attach it to. We unfurled the mail and had a look at it. It was in great condition with just a few patches.
It would have been nice to sail her but not enough time and still with all the learning to do.
