An electronic burgee isn't anything new, yachts use them all the time, but putting one on a dinghy is a little different. We fitted ours on top of the mast head float with a relay down to the bottom of the mast.
After a lot of deliberation, we decided to take the mast down rather than putting the boat on the water and laying it on its side. So we took down the mast - it took three of us and then we removed the masthead float, screwed on the solar powered burgee and its radio transmitter, then it was a simple but strenuous task of stepping the mast and installing the receiver at the foot of the mast. We have already moved to the Mark 1.5, with an on/off switch - which I forgot to add. This box will only be put in the boat as an when we need it.
