The wind was a bit too gusty for us, so we put the ePropulsion Lite on the Toura and took it upstream for a spin and took some photographs of the sailing. There were a few capsizes so we were grateful we made the correct choice.
Not really an electric boat, but our sailing dinghy is powered by an ePropulsion Lite. We put the sails up on the RS Toura this morning, and a large gust came through, and it was all we could do to hold the boat, so we decided to take the sails down, furl the jib and put the ePropulsion Lite electric outboard motor on. We then cruised off after the sailboats, taking some photographs as they heeled over in the wind. Starting at 97% we took the battery down to 64% for our morning and afternoon out. One of the great advantages of using the electronic motor is that when we stop, we use no power. So we travelled upstream with the sailing boats, then moored to a bush – easy to do on the Thames with our small draught. Because we were moored in an unusual place, several boats as they passed us by asked if we were aground, as it was an unusual sight to see a sailing boat with no sails in amongst the reeds. This gave us a great opportunity to take some good photographs of the Sailing dinghies.
Ten boats out on the water with a nice strong breeze.
More wind, less boats. an A-Rater out on the water
