This spring and summer so far was brought in some excellent sailing. Some days the winds have been quite strong and scary. This weekend the weather was great and the wind not too strong. Ideal weather for Paul and I to go out in the Toura and win a few races. OK so wining wasn't on the cards and in fact we were lapped several times but we made it round the course and then went out in the Safety Boat to help some even more new-be sailors than ourselves.
On advice, we tighten the shroud to make the boat run better and we think it did We started well but by the time we had reached halfway up river the leading boat had reached the mark and were coming back as us. The first race we managed 1 and a half laps of the four, and in last place we turned to get back so we could start the second race. This was four laps but we only managed two. Even with our handicap it doesn't make much difference - we need a lap or two head start to come anywhere near completing the race.
There were less boats in the afternoon race only five including us. The sun was out and the wind had come up a little gusting to about 15 mph As soon as we were off we were in out own race miles behind the National 12s When we reached the mark we had bee already lapped.
Four Zests out on the water. Kat was making amazing improvement and Billy came out with us in the Safety Boat to capture some dramatic from the water video. We managed to give the new members 45 minutes of intense sailing and watched all of their skills improve.
Lots of activity on the water which made it a fun day out.
